Is this anything to be concerned about?
I noticed this on the neck of my new adopted BP...

Not sure if it's anything to worry about, might be completely normal...

That looks kind of like a burn from the other photos I've seen here, did the person you adopted from have a heat lamp on the snake? Or a heat rock, fr that matter?

    No, he didn't...

That isn't what scale rot looks like is it?

Can you contact the previous owner? If so, ask if the snake suffered an injury there in the past...maybe its a scar? :confuzd: I've never heard of scale rot on the dorsal scales like that. Usually its on the belly. But I don't know enough about it to say with certainty. If I were in your shoes, and I could not confirm a scar, I'd take him to a vet to have it checked out.

Yea, the vet sounds like a good choice to me. Probably nothing serious, could even just be part of her pattern but it's always best to know for sure.

Looks like some old dry scales ... if it is, make sure your humidity is good and your heat isn't too harsh and dry and it will go away in a couple sheds.

It looks like a scar... I guess if it isn't open and oozy, I wouldn't be immensely concerned. I would try to get up with the previous owner, though. :confuzd:

I know there are probably 1000 threads on humidity, but how could I raise it a little. I mist the cage a couple times a day...I even put some saran-wrap over the screen top, Humidity is usually about 30... Could I put the water dish over the heat pad? I've heard of doing that on the corn snake forum...

Putting the water dish over the heating pad will help a little. It's really dry in Ohio during the winter so I use the saran wrap too. I mist the cages that need it. You might also want to check into a humidifier for the room you keep your snakes in.

ya 30 is way too low. have you tried the 'duct tape over the top' that other people do when they use a tank as an enclosure?

add another water dish... on the cool side if you are going to place your water dish on the warm side.

that way your snake has access to water if the warm one evaporates before you get back to refill it. ;)
