    Vision Racks
I'm looking for advice on Vision's CB-70 racks. They seem the most cost effective (for someone who is tired of building their own), and shipping isn't going to be $700 like a Freedom rack would have been (joys of living in NL).

I thought I saw it mentioned that Reptic-Plastics in Quebec is the Canadian distributor, can anyone confirm this? I've called these guys several times, and sent a bunch of emails, but they haven't responded. Are they still in business?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

I have a vision, a freedom breeder and an animal plastics racks and the vision is by far the most versatile and best priced rack. I have my adult BP's in the vision now but when eggs start hatching I will convert part of it into a hatchling rack. You can use ssmaller tubs and remove them sideways from the long side and pull them out from the front when you use CB70's. The heat cable can be ran in many different ways for different applications. You should be able to order it directly from Vision or call them and they may know who has them nearer to you. They very friendly and helpful. Luckily for me their 10 miles from my house.

In my opinion the Vision are flimsy. I've seen them in person and wouldn't buy them. I also don't like heat cable. It runs too hot for my taste. If your stat fails with 3" flexwatt, maybe it heats up enough to cause burns. If that happens with heat cable, its BBQ time.

I like the vision racks. They now have tubs to replace the CB-70's, that have a flat bottom and are heavier duty. When we visited Greg Graziaini, he had rows of them and he loves them. I think he also helped design them, so there is a little bias there. I think they hold the humidity a little better than an open air top rack, so if you are not in a humidity controlled room they maybe easier to regulate.

I have the same concerns as Jamie about the plastic, but it makes them more affordable for sure. As far as the heat cord, I would just make sure you use a good proportion T-stat and maybe even a backup on/off one.

    Just my :2cent: :)

Thanks people for your advice. Flexwatt is a very difficult thing to get in Canada, so I have no concerns with using heat rope. I've ordered 2, and I'll report in a couple years how well they stand up. I know they'll do much better in my projected move in the coming year than the melamine ones I've made myself!
