    Back up steps in!
So I have had my albino Aldo with my big het girl Xena on and off since October and haven't had a confirmed lock, just alot of snuggling.

She walks all over him like a door mat!

So I finally put in the back up het male Albert to make sure someone is closing the deal and within two hours!

We got a confirmed lock! I was told when I got started always have a back up. There is no guarantee that he can close the deal or that she will let him!
Well at least I know we had het on het action. If Aldo the albino already closed the deal and I missed it no harm done, but I have heard recessive boys don't always go their first year even though he's 750grams and over a year. Ya never know!

Why would the male having a recessive trait have anything to do with whether or not he will breed in his first year???

I don't know? It's something I heard from one of my breeders. That was her experience with recessive males and my boy(who I didn't get from her) is an example. Maybe they are snobby, spoiled and stuck up and don't mature as fast LOL! Anyway she has had the same problem the first year and then the second they were all business! Go figure?

That doesn't happen to all of them but it was what she was told and her experience and now mine.
