Is This Normal

I just picked up my beautiful baby ball last week and am proud to say she is my first. I fed her myself for the first time last Thursday, and since then she has not come out of here hiding box. Is this normal behavior. I was a little apprehensive when I was feeding her due to the size of the mouse I fed her. She seemed to eat and swallow it fine, but still a little weary it was bit big for her. she is about 7 months old. Just wondering if the size of the mouse could affect her behavior and if its normal for a ball after feeding to spend all there time in thier hide box. She's been in there for about 2 days. And I know your not supposed to handle for about 2 days after feeding. Can I hold her now Im getting anxious?

Well congratulations on your new BP

It is totally normal for a BP to spend most of their time in their hides matter of fact in the wild they spend 80% of their time in tight burrow. And only come out at night

Also digesting is a time when BP feel vulnerable so you will hardly see her after feeding.
If 48 hours have passed since you fed him it is ok for you to handle your BP.

As for the size of the prey you should be feeding in my experience BP eating smaller meal once a week (smaller then the girth size) eat with more consistency.

Nothing to worry about that I know of. :) I'd be concerned if she wasn't in her hide.

yup. my pied and het come out at night, and the normal come sout at night every so often. they will be in their hide a lot!

Yup very normal. They like hides...so have atleast two. check in on her about an hour after the lights go out. All my princesses are out about then...

all u need is these 2 things:

1.) Higher humidity
2.) A soak if that doesnt work

welcome to the forum!

when you first get a new ball python (or any snake) it's important to give them a week at least with no handling whatsoever. just go in and change their water and that's it. so until it's had that week of solitude... you need to keep your hands off (i know how hard that is... :( )
