    Possible rat shyness?
Well, the other day I tried to feed kanihbus a rat but it turned out too big because he struck once, missed, struck a second time and tagged the rat but it managed to escape. Afterwards, kanihbus left the rat alone and totally ignored it. After I considered it, the rat was in fact too big, so I returned it and got my $$ back.

This however, is NOT my 1st time feeding rats, I did the same last week but with a way smaller rat, and kanihbus struck and ate it in one shot, without a problem or hesitation.

So here's the problem: I bought 2 rats for him today, this time appropriately sized (not too small, not too big) and when I tried to feed it (only one), he didn't show any interest whatsoever. Normally, he is a very aggressive eater and is NOT picky whatsoever...if he's hungry, he'll eat, pretty simple. I waited around 15 min and he still didn't show any interest, so I took the rat out and now they're in a mock lil home for the time being.

So have I caused this rat shyness? I forget where I read that if this happens, I should just wait a week and try again? Like I said, he is not shy, he has even eaten a rat in the past. I've *never* had any problems feeding him, heck, when he's hungry, he makes sure that I know by constantly being out of his hide the entire day til I feed....well, he's doing that now and I feel bad!

    So, what should I do?

Maybe kanihbus doesn't have the munchies?

Seriously though, just give it a week and try again. The snake is likely just a bit stressed.

I'd just try again next week. Hopefully he'll snap it right up.

I can't get over the "returned the bitten rat" part of this story. That's coldly hilarious.

    Good luck with Kanihbus.

I tried to feed my ball a smallish rat and she shyed away. It was just too agressive for her, now she snaps pups/weaned rats up like they are candy! Maybe you could try a smaller rat that isn't as active.
