    Simple pleasures
Today is a pretty nasty day, so I've been trying to occupy my daughter. She had a tea party and had her finger and toe nails painted. You would have thought I'd taken her on a shopping spree or something extravagent. So I started thinking how I also take great pleasure in some very simple things. I love my yoga classes and taking a walk on a warm, sunny day. So what are a few of your simple pleasures in life?

Oh what a lovely topic Christie. Too few of us ever think or give thanks for those simple little things really.

    Here's a few of mine....

    - snuggling with Mikey early in the morning when he's all warm and still a bit sleepy - he's my youngest and the time is fast approaching when I won't have a little pj clad kiddo that wants to snuggle with mom in the morning

    - enjoying that first morning coffee and a chapter of my current paperback early in the morning while everyone else is still asleep and the house is quiet

    - watching our favorite Tuesday evening tv shows with Mike - sure it's not the most exciting thing a couple can do but it's our weekly "us" time and we really try to schedule our week and our family around that

    - watching Mikey's amazement at the treasures in our local museum (even if he's totally convinced it's all "pirate treasure!!!!!" LOL)

    - having one of our three teenagers actually for one shining second think I'm cool

    - flipping off that last light at night, curling up on the couch and enjoying Grey's Anatomy (even if Mike thinks it's a silly girlie show LOL) - my time, for me once a week (and Dr. McDreamy makes it soooooo worthwhile!)

Some days around here are tough, that's life for any of us really isn't it. Some blessings are hard to see unless you look for them, hold them a moment and treasure them for what they truly are...thanks for helping me reflect a moment today Christie on some of mine. :)

You're most welcome. I take pleasure in many simple things, but sometimes I forget I do. It's so easy to rush through the day and simply miss those few moments that might have given you warm fuzzies.

I always love playing games at night with the kids and my husband. So what if we've played Hungry, Hungry Hippos every night that week. It's something that brings us all together. Although one of my favs is when we play Pretty, Pretty Princess. It's hysterical to see my husband and son dressed in earrings and a tiara. I, of course, had to snap a couple pics of my son to use as blackmail when he becomes a know-it-all teenager. ;)

    Very nice topic, Christie!

I take pleasure in all my critters and the time that I spend with them.

I relish the 1/2 hour before I turn out the lights at night and snuggle into the bed with a good book.

I love when I have to work late, Karl lays out my 'jammies, and hands me a glass of wine when I walk in the door and I can smell dinner cooking (even though he often slathers his meals with black pepper and I can barely eat it - the fact that he's made the effort is what I appreciate and love about him).

I love walks in the evening with Diamond.

I take pleasure in the fact I have a job (when you've been unemployed for a year after 9-11, you don't take a job that even on some days is a pain in your arse for granted).

I am grateful for my co-workers who make every day a fun day - there isn't a day that goes by that I don't have a good belly laugh some time during the day (and realize just how blessed I am while having that laugh).

I love a nice cup of coffee in the evening - I get so little sleep at night that the caffeine has no effect on me, when the lights go out, so do I! LOL

I love cold, rainy days - those are days you can stay curled up with a good book and a pot of chili on the stove, or soup in the crock pot and not feel guilty for staying in all day.

And of COURSE - bp.net is another pleasure of mine!

Coming home after a really stressful day and that first moment when I sit down on my reclining sofa and know I can just chill.

Waking up early and having had enough sleep, drinking my coffee and watching it become light.

When my 16yo son comes up for no apparent reason and gives me a big hug.
