ball python morphs have a really great value right now but i dont understand completely how this whole thing works. as with corn snakes and other snakes most of their morphs arent worth nearly as much as with a ball python. is that only because of how rare they are or how common? is that how the prices work? does that mean that soon all the morphs will be very common and not worth much or are new morphs going to keep coming in with high value? just trying to get a better understanding of this.. thanks! :)

I think that alot of the morphs' retaine value, comes from the pretty tough aspect of breeding them. Often, half a clutch or more will go bad.. the eggs themselves are pretty relatively fragile.. sometimes, the couples you want to breed, don't or won't.. there are a lot of factors to be taken into consideration.
It seems that once a morph is more widely available, more smaller breeders are able to breed it and sell more at one time, which leads to competition, which beings the price down; but people in the know will always be ready to pay more for quality and feel safer buying from someone with a great reputation who has sold more snakes.
Personally, I never inteld for this to be anything more than a major hobby to me; the big guys and gals are already out there, and I don't plan on completely devoting my life to breeding them; but I am definately a hobby breeder, and that's how I like it!

Ball pythons are incredibly popular animals plus the fact that they have extremely small clutches means demand far exceeds supply.. we all know what that means. :)

Prices have been going down slowly.. and sometimes up even.
