Boa question

I have a rack for my ball pythons. Can I make a rake for my red tails? If not what is the best type of housing for them. I want to breed mine. The screen top aquariums are to difficult to keep the humidity right. I have the top coverd some and I mist all the time. Is it because I use heat lamps?

Yes you can house boas in racks, but you will have to do some searching for large enough tubs for large adult boas. You can also construct or buy stackable cages instead of racks. Your humidity problem is most likely due to the screen lids and heat lamps. Using a rack system or fully enclosed cages should remedy this.

sure you can. boas loooove to climb and i bet they'll climb their own personal rake anytime you let them ;)

Most boa constrictors are going to outgrow even the largest tubs (unless you get the huge ones from reptiletubs.com, but sliding those in and out of a homemade rack is not very practical)

Your best bet is to build or buy cages like those from boaphile plastics (boaphileplastics.com) They stack and are going to be much easier to deal with than a rack with huge tubs.

And yes, heat lamps will suck out most of your humidity. Most of us here use flexwatt heat tape wired to a thermostat. Reliable temperatures without removing all of the humidity.

There is a professional racking system that will work for bigger snakes like boas from Freedom Breeder. While they are awesome (or so those who have say so), they are a bit on the expensive side.
