    is it possible??
    to miss the lock. i put my male pastel(800gr.) in with my big female (1500gr.) about a day ago and i have seen them getting close but i havent seen a lock. how long do they stay locked???

    Anywhere from two hours to two days. I just had a pair lock up that lasted almost two days, although I can't be certain that there wasn't a break somewhere inbetween.

    but if they did already fornicate is there any harm in putting him back in if the female is not pregnant??

    Nope, no harm. Actually most breeders will rotate their males in with a female (or females) many times over the season and try to get them to lock up a half dozen times or so. The mating process actually stimulates them to ovulate, and either the retained sperm or a recent copulation will fertilize the eggs... or a combination of the two.

    well i just looked up stairs and padro(pastel male) was finished doing his deed. i cant wait to see the eggs!!!!! now its just a waiting game
