    Something strange while feeding
Hey, i have an adult BP, about 3ft
i was feeding her yesterday with a large mouse, prob. 3, 1/2in long *without* tail? anyways, she kills it very quickly and without incident. while im watching her swallow, she starts shaking her head and neck for several seconds. i was alittle wierded out  it was like some parkinsons disease. alittle bit later she did it 2 more times. has anyone else seen this?
the only way i could explain it to myself was that she was 'readjusting' herself to fit the mouse down. i still thought it was strange.

    :(

i want to make it clear, she wasnt shaking her head right and left, rather her whole neck was 'vibrating' in place.

My python did that first few feed too if I recall.
I'm guessing its between stress of stretching/muscle contracting
holding up his head that high that long
and the combined concern over not being totally ok with being exposed while vunerable??

Adam, oh wonderous answerman, could you clarify what our slithery kids are doing during the head wobbles?

If its only observed while consuming it could be just that the snake gets a little shaky when straining/working down a prey item. Kinda like when a human is lifting a heavy object and reaching the threshold of how much longer they can hold it...they start to get shaky from the strain aka muscle failure (in humans).

Or maybe she wanted her mouse shaken not stirred :P

Aww c'mon I waited till there had been a sensible conclusion posted before giving in to temptation - I've been holding that in for 2 days.
