How much weight gain for females..?
I have had Ginger and my pastel together and observd two lockups; one was earlier in the season, the second one, last night. Now, her weight up until today had hovered around 1800g. I weighed her today and she is at 2007g. Her last meal was before her shed last week, before I placed the male in there again for a few days and observed the lockup.
So for those who weigh their females through the season; how much weight would signify that the breeding "took?" Do they gain much weight, or maybe does it take more energy to form the eggs, which would cause a weight plateau?

She isn't going to gain weight unless she eats. If you are asking if its possible for her to gain weight without eating as the eggs develop, the answer is no. There may be slight varients due to water consumption, but according to the law of conservation of mass, matter is neither created nor destroyed.

I had a female that laid 13 eggs and 1 slug, The clutch weighed 1200g. And yes the female gained that and lost it when they were laid..

I am not saying that the female wont gain weight, I am saying that the female will not gain weight unless she eats. It is impossible, it will go against a law of physics, where did the matter come from for the additional weight gain. If a 2000 gram female starts to develop eggs, the female invest her energy, or her weight into the egg material, thus when laid a weight loss equal to the clutch.

The female is not gaining weight no, But the scale still goes up from the weight of the eggs.

    Jas,

If the clutch has not been laid, the female is gravid, are you saying that the total weight of the snake (female + unlaid eggs) will go up without eating?

If that is what you are saying, it can't happen. As the eggs develop they draw material from the female, so unless she eats, or defecates, there will be minimum weight change.

Maybe extra fluid retention as the eggs develop?
