    Snake Falls
My snake often tests the lid of the tank and eventually falls, sometimes kinda hard. Sometimes she wont move for alittle bit (but less than a min) after a perticularly loud fall. How concerned should I be, and what precautions could I take to make the tank... and my snake.. less prone to accidents?

Sometimes she'll fall in an awkward position. That couldn't be good for her back, and they're all back. :(

Does she wake you up in the middle of the night like mine does when she falls? one of mine is in a taller tank and I sometimes hear her fall from the ledge at night. The thuds you hear are probably from the snakes butt end as it hits the ground after it gets the first part of its body down from the ledge. If it makes you feel better you could get a shorter six inch tub as Nate said.

I dont understand what you mean by a ledge. I'm watching her right now. She extends her body from the ground up to the top and pokes around. Eventually she moves to far and falls. Sometimes its not bad and she can slow/practically stop her self from *hitting* the ground. Other times more of her body comes with her and thees a thud sound. Usually she goes to bed sometime between 11pm-1am for the rest of the night.

Some snakes will grab onto the ledge of the inside of the tank at the very top and cruise around up there.

mine do this all the time at night, my big female i dont worry about cause she so big that only her neck and head get up there, but my new little female does this and from her tail to her head is streched out. she fell a couple of times but, then she started to wrap around the probe cord. she hasnt fallen but two or three times. this was mostly the first week to week and a half of getting her.. i think its her getting use to the new home, and checking out her surroundings. but that just my guess.
