    blood on the shed...
    well heres the deal.

i just bought a two month old albino male and i never knew that he was in shed when i got him. the next day i noticed that he shed a perfect shed. the only problem is that i noticed a little bit of blood around the vent area of his shed skin. i picked him up and inspected his vent and it was a little red but not bleeding.

has this happened to anyone because this is the first time it has happend to me. could it just be that the shed was a little harder to remove around the vent area and that is why the bleeding happend??

    thanks

I had this happen when my hatchlings went through their first shed... I also remember reading a little bit about it somewhere on the forums... I think it's normal and not a cause for concern.

It sometimes goes a bit red because the skin there is quite soft and tender and as the snake rubs there to shed sometimes he/she can rub a little bit too hard and damage the new skin. It should heal up fine but check all the same to make sure it does not become infected.
