    Climbing all over.
I am sure that this a sign of stress, but I am unsure how to solve the problem immediately. -- For the record I have ordered a Snake Shack which will totally solve the problem (standard size tub). But here is the behavior and what I plan to do.

Our snake Fluffy is currently in an 18x18x18 vivarium. The temps are perfect, and the humidity is mostly perfect.

Every time I clean the cage and put down fresh aspen he goes absolutly crazy! He climbs all over the walls stretching unbelievably. He hangs on to the thermostat wire. He move the aspen all around. He switches back and forth between the two hides, it takes him about 20 hours to settle down. This last time I just cleaned with warm water (to ensure that there were no fumes that were bothering him) -- it didn't make a difference.

I am thinking of getting a barrier to squish the height down to 7in. Do you think this will help?

A big square shaped vivarium like that is probably not adequately meeting his need for security. You'll be much better off with the rack when it arrives. In the mean time, just spot clean and try not to disturb him too much.

    How are his feeding habits?

You could also fill the enclosure with loosely crumpled pieces of newspaper to help settle him.

I'd suggust that until your rack arrives, you might want to have him on newspaper (i kept mine on smaller peices, ie 1/4 of a page, so I just had to remove a small part and not the entire substrate, less movement of things, less notice the snakes paid to me), so you can quickly spot clean and not have to dig around his tank. That part could be stressing him out, as you're messing up him place.
