Have you given her a week with no handling? The newspaper trick always is another option.

The trick is you lightly crumple up some news paper and put it in their tank/tub. It more coverage for them. And its not uncommon for a snake to hiss if its never really been handled. Just handle it when its week is up and show it that you are no harm to it. It make take some time depending on the snake.

ANY animal that has teeth and feels threatened may bite.

She may bite but likely she will calm down. Just start with 10 minute handling session every 7 days or so after the 1 week of settling in. Then you can gradually move up to 2 times a week 10-20 minute sessions and she will soon realise that you are not a threat and judging by your avator, she will fall in love with you just like you have/will with her!!!

Personality varies greatly among snakes even of the same species. Most tame down with good care and proper handling. When I got my baby red tail a couple months ago he was very defensive. He's only bitten me once and has calmed down quite a bit since I first got him. Just give him/her time and I'm sure he/she will calm down for you, hogs are generally good tempered. Good luck with the new addition by the way.
