Going To Be A New Owner!!!!

Picking up 2 lep. geckos on the 6th. Any 1st time owner pointers or info would be great! One is 2 and the other is 4.

Congratulations! Don't hold them on their first week to let them settle in. If he/she is not eating don't worry just try the next day.If she/he doesn't eat for 5 consecutive days then post it here and some members will give you advice. If nobody does, just look up a caresheet for leopard geckos.

Just make sure you have temp and humidity right in the enclosure before you get them, same as anything else. There is a care sheet on this site that whould answer most of your questions. One thing i do suggest is not to use sand. A young leo can eat it and become impacted which is deadly. The sand can also cause the skin around the toes to dry out during sheds, cause the shed to stick, and possible cause the toe to be ripped off as happens in some cases. I personally like to use repti-bark with mine. It is a dark mulch type stuff and I think the dark substrate really makes they're color shine. I'm not saying the sand always causes problems, but it can, so why take the chance.
