    HELP!!!!! My first lost BP
    Hey all,

I have lost my first BP. She broke through the lid on a cage she shouldnt have been able to break out of. Any Ideas on finding her. I believe she could have been gone for as many as 24 hours and we have tore the snake room apart. we have checked "hot spots" at least all we can see. If you can give me any clues that would be great.

Well, shes still gone and we have tore the house apart. I will do the search and destroy (the house) at least once a day until I find her. My main problem is I believe she may have bred before she got out. This SUCKS!!!!!

firehop... how many reptiles do you HAVE? and what are the 0.1 66% het ... stuff?

as for finding snakes... check under piles of things, they seem to like closets. Its probably somewhere around there. Check under beds and between/behind everything

Sorry to hear about the missing snake and hope you find her soon. I know there have been a couple threads about this with some good advice.

It happened to me a few times in the past before I switched to solid top lids (they fit on the inside lip) and here is what has worked for me:
    1. I know it sounds crazy but if you have a cat, try placing the cat in the room where the snake was kept. My oldest cat was good at playing "find the missing snake". Just make sure you keep a close eye on the cat and that you trust the cat not to harm the snake.
    2. In my experience, they almost always stay within a few foot radius of the enclosure. Closets, and dresser drawers were my snakes favorite.
If you haven't already sealed off the room where the snake was kept, try that- hopefully she is still in there. Start at one corner and work slowly around the room, do this one room at a time. I am sure you know just how tiny of a space they can fit themselves in. I think someone mentioned using flour or something, that way you have a visual clue that they are in the room- if she moves about.
Good luck and I hope you find her soon!

Thanks for the help. I'm gonna keep trying.

BTW....Rascal the 66% het means that it is an offspring of 2 het for pied snakes and there is a 66% chance that this snake is het for pied...but also 34% chance shes not. Also I dont have enough reptiles. If I can stop loosing them I hope to have babies soon...LOL.

Again, Thanks for the help and I will keep you posted.

With all the animals you do have, you may want to invest in a rack system.

I had problems when I was with tanks, and lost a snake for a while (only a day), and then gave up and got a rack, which I have never had problems with escapes in the several years that I have been using them.

    Just a thought
