    newspaper trick
    Hi all,

so zahabu is sttttiiiiiilllll not eating, I think I might have noticed what i was doing wrong though.

I have tried the newspaper trick (stuffing tank with it) as I think there may be a security issue. Would this be reason to not eat?

Is there anyone who has tried the newspaper trick with non feeders, and then had them feed?

    thanks

Yes I have tried the newspaper trick and it just got one of my ball pythons to start eating again. That could be one reason why yours is not eating. How is your cage setup? What are your temps and humidity as that might also be why he isnt eating.

No feeling secure lead to stress and stress does lead to BP going of feed also it might not be the only reason why he might not eat

First of it is winter and some BP will fast during the winter and as long as your BP does not lose too much weight it will be ok

Here what you can do to eliminate other factor if you haven't done so yet

Check temperature 80-84 on the cool side, 90-94 on the warm side

    Check humidity 50%-60%

Make sure the enclosure is in a low traffic area
Make sure the hides are tight enough
If you handle your BP a lot stop until he resume feeding

Also if your BP is in a glass tank you might want to switch him to a plastic tub for the winter which will allow you to maintain the right temp and humidity and make your BP feel more secure it often does the trick.

Never used the newspaper trick but if he feel more secure he might resume feeding.
