    Newbie needs help
Hi, I'm a newbie (to snakes and this forum) XD

I'm planning to get a ball python soon, and I was wondering about some stuff. Since I can only keep him in my room, is smoke harmful to snakes? I smoke, a lot. I also play the guitar, a lot...and really loud too, will that bother the snake? I think they're deaf(right?).

They aren't deaf they just lack external ears so they hear differently than we do. Actually loud bass music would be really rough on the snake I would think as they are very sensitive to vibrations and second hand smoke is harmful to all living things, snakes included (and I'm a smoker myself so this isn't coming from someone who is just anti-smoking).

The vibrations from the music may freak out the snake.
Smoking isn't good around anyone, including animals.
Could you maybe smoke by a window, not smoke in your room?

Hmm thanks, I guess I could smoke on the terrace.

Yea they are right the vibrations would stress the crap out of your snake. And the smoke well you might not notice anything at frist but that will huge long term effects on your new pet. But back to the vibrations thing even having them in high traffic areas of your house or to close to a TV can stress them out. When I would have people over to my apartment just that many people walikng around in a building that transfered sound my oldest one would run for high ground for days after. Good question though. And a good start by asking this kind of stuff before getting your snake..

Okay then, I'm moving the tank. Is 15 feet from the TV/Computer good enough? Thanks for the help guys, I've got the tank/temp/hum all set up now.

Yea that should be ok. Just keep an eye on your snake if it starts looking stressed (i.e staying out of his hide at odd times, not eating, Ect) might try a different local. LOL Again Welcome. If you can get some pics up of your pet. We're photo fends love dem pics. LOL

Also if you are using a glass tank and it's a busier area, you can always put a nice background on the outside of three sides of the tank (leaving the front unobstructed for viewing). They sell some really nice backgrounds for tanks or with a good photo quality printer you could make your own.

Just a little shot of my daughter's milksnake but showing the background for her tank.

That's exactly what I was going to do! XD
I don't have a BP yet so no pictures, I'm kind of over preparing and over analyzing everything before I actually buy myself a BP.

    But I do have a picture of a friend's BP. I think he..or she's a year old.
