    41 Qt Rack heating
Im getting started on my 3' rack in a couple days but I had a couple quick questions about heating. What size flexwatt would you use for 41qt tubs. Im thinking either 2 rows of 4" or a single row of 11". Also Im putting it in my main room where the temps range from 70-75. Would putting a plexiglass door on the front help with ambients in the tubs.

in a colder room alot of people had success with using 11" flex. i personally wouldn't use plexi on the front, you need some ventilation. a small space heater to bump up the ambient temps works good.

We have one similar to this for the snake room....oil filled electric heater from WalMart (around $35.00)...works like a charm to keep the ambient room temps up. The newer ones (and personally I think better) are digital.

The 41qt rack i bought has the 11" flexwatt on each shelf. If you enclose it with the plexiglass make sure you leave a gap for air exchange.

You can either get a space heater to supplement heat on the cool side, or you can install another strip of flexwatt to control the cool side.

ok, just thinking on this a bit ... what about using that peg board stuff on the back for venting and then putting plexi doors on the front to give it a more finished look?

Im guessing that I'll probably have to use a space heater, with this rack I was trying to get away from them since I hate heating up my entire room. Im gonna stick a thermastat on it to help, would a ranco or johnsons be good enough.
