    Had My First Batch Of Babies!! Help
    well i have decided to breed my own mice, my setup is a lab cage, and i have one f/mouse. well i went to clean it out and there was about 8 babies!! And this is my first time breeding! CAN i clean out the cage while there are babies?

    I wouldn't. Leave them completely alone for a few days and then clean AROUND them. Leave most of the old nest intact. Hopefully this won't stress her and she won't eat the babies. I've had good luck doing this and they rarely cannibalize one. Just give them enough food and water for a few days and put them in a dark place.

    yup, very important to leave the mama alone at least until she's a very tame pet mouse... then, you can handle the pups almost from birth! but for a mouse who's not used to you and a first time mom... i'd stay completely away from her and NOT clean the cage for at least a week or two!

    On cleaning days when I notice new litters I also try to leave them alone. Then again sometimes I scoop them up and go ahead with the cleaning, so I won't need to come back later and have never noticed any problems.

    well i scooped them out today and then cleaned the whole cage out!, she had no problem. thanks on the advice. oh and she had 6 healthy babies!!
