    BP Courting Behaviour
Well being this is our first attempt at breeding and I'm coming up pretty empty on the research about courting behaviour, I thought I'd ask you experienced folks some questions.

We introduced our male Malachi to one of our mature females, Kyna about an hour ago (neither have ever bred). Kyna immediately showed interest, slithering all over Malachi who was a bit shy at first. Just peeked in on them and they are doing this odd sort of posture is the only way I can describe it. They aren't in a lock but both are sort of checking each other out and they have their tails curled way up. Is this some sort of prelude to mating/normal courting behaviour? I've never seen either snake hold their tail in this position and they are both doing it at the same time.

Oh I never thought to take pics! Good lord I was too excited to even think of that silly me! I've run and set up the cam now Chris but of course they have now dropped their tails back into a natural position and are just staring at each other (well you'd stare too if you had no dang eyelids come to think of it...but I can still hope it's a loving stare right??? :) ). I'll be ready next time though to catch it on cam (lordy why do I know feel like some sort of perv LMAO).

    LOL

As long as you don't start trying to give them instructions or saying " now look into the lens - make me feel it" you will probably be alright :D

Sometimes females will lift their tail, evert some of the tissue in the cloaca, and then wag their tail when a male is introduced into their space. There are some people that feel this means the female isn't ready, and others that feel this means they are. I have seen it with a few of my girls, and most of the time, the couple was locked up the next morning. I've never seen a male do this though, are you sure he's a he?

    Omg Del, LMAOOOOOOOOOOO!

Evan, Malachi is our 100% het albino produced by Adam. I'm pretty confident that when Adam says Mal's a boy, he's a boy LOL. We did see them draping their tails over each other late last night, no lock yet but it seems they may be moving towards that. As we've never bred snakes, we're just a bit unsure of how much courting they do especially when both are inexperienced.
