Canon Powershot S2.. thoughts??

so Randy is going to buy me a new camera for x-mas... I get to order it next week

I'm thinking about getting this camera but I'd like opinions if any of you have any.

we looked at those when we were looking into getting a new camera. The thing I didnt like about it was where the zoom "nob" was placed. Its wrapped around the shutter button, so when I tried it out, I always somehow moved the zoom when I took a picture.

I would check out your local Staples, office max, best buy, etc.... before you order one online. Lets you get the chance to see what the cameras like before you buy.

one thing i look for is built in rechargable lithium ion batteries. just my thing though. looks like a good cam at a good price!

I actually did check this camera out at Best Buy last month. It's a little larger then I'd like but I can get over that.

A friend of mine said he really liked his powershot s2 so I guess I'll give it a try.

at least I don't have to pay for it! haha

My wife and I each have a powershot s410 I take all my pics with it. Not the top of the line but I'm getting better with and closeups are coming out better and better.

I have had a S1 IS for years. I loved it. It was a rocking camera. Went all over the counrty on a motorcyle. I must have easily taken over 40,000 pictures on it. mine was a 10x optical zoom. I "lost" it ...long story. Any way...i was looking at a S3 IS as a replacement. Also scoping out the rebel SLR. anyway...S1 IS has two thumbs up from me!!!

actually the price difference betwen the S2 and S3 isn't that much
maybe I'll just go with the S3
