I just can't get enough of these little ones... (DUW)
I was feeding so a few were out and about.....eating crickets and shedding ;) Thought I would share a few pictures.....I know you all have to be getting tired of seeing these monitors :D
This one was shedding today.....glad to see them growing ;)

Yep.....they are the first and only for now.....but most likely not the last ;) I dig tiny monitors.....v. storri might hit 15 inches at adulthood..so I can't wait til' they grow up ;) If I ever have the opportunity to purchase anymore of the pygmy species(v. kingorum, v. caudolineatus, v. brevicauda, v. gilleni)....I will not hesitate jumping on the opportunity.

They look awesome, Daniel!! Way cute faces!!!
Re: I just can't get enough of these little ones... (DUW)
way cool. great pics. good luck with breeding those.
i hope you do get the opportunity for brevicauda. i dont believe there's any in North America and they can't be exported from Australia because of Australian law.

Nope - never tire of looking at cute monitor pics, and they are sweeties :)

V. storri are more common than the other four that I listed......but no where near as common as ackies. I have only seen one ad for them on kingsnake in the last year......and those are the ones that I bought. I know of several other people that keep them in the US.....but not more than I can count on one hand.
As far as the others are concerned.......V. kingorum is available in Canada, but I have not found anyone in the US with them yet(the leusistic v. kingorum are also available in Canada but carry a price tag of $15,000 a pair). I have only found 3 people in the US/Canada that keep V. caudolineatus...and none of them have a breeding pair. V. brevicauda is not available in North America, but I have heard there are a few keepers in Europe. The only person that I know that breeds V. gilleni is Frank Retes.....but good luck getting ahold of him.
Hope that helps. If you are looking for a dwarf monitor that is readily available and costs a bit less.......go for yellow or red ackies. But if you have a few extra bucks, can find some, and are willing to take a step up on the keeping difficulty........v. storri would be great :D
