Oh Boy!....and Girls!

Picked up the new male rat today! Karl has named him Caesar. He looks like Mrs. Snuggles. I cleaned the rat enclosure and put him in first and let him get comfortable before introducing the girls. All went well, they didn't scuffle with him, but he went "Oh Yeah!!!! GIRLLLLSSSSS!!!!" and let's say, I don't think there's going to be a problem with him getting the job done, although I'm waiting for the girls to team up on him and tell him to knock it off soon!

Scarlett, the blue self keeps kicking him off with her back legs, going - you pesky little boy!

Absolutely too cute! :clap: I am a sucker for those black hoodeds! :love: Now the tricky part is not getting attached to the babies.

Wonderful looking little male and obviously he's clued in about what girl rats are for (other than snuggling in a rat pile lol). Looks like a lovely healthy male you got yourself Robin! I'm always partial to the black hoodeds as our Nova is one and has been such an amazing male. I'm sure your Caesar will be the same. :sunny:

Caesar is a sweet little boy - took him out for a little handling today - so he can get to know me and learn that I'm someone he can trust (he's been running into the hide whenever I get near). Had a lovely handling session, and he's been joining the girls now in greeting me when I stop to say hello.


I had read about the males being real sweethearts and nicer to handle with their laid back natures, and I'm finding that to be true with Caesar.

Scarlett tolerates handling - once she settles in, she's great. Mrs. Snuggles loves back scritches and bruxes while I just scratch her all over her back. Caesar thinks the back scritches are mighty fine as well!

I have to say, I enjoy my rats just as much as my snakes!!
