Newer Homemade Mouse Rack

Here ia a pic of a couple of mouse racks, the first one on the left is the old style (version 1) and the one on the right is the newest design (version 3).

The food trough on these new racks can hold up to 3-4 weeks worth of food, but I usually only fill half way. I just ordered auto-watering valves to run to the tubs. I have a total of 90 tubs of 1.5 mice in this room. 12 tubs of version 1, 24 tubs of version 2 and 54 of version 3. I will convert all to the newer version. These have ease of construction, easy access to fill food hoppers and visibilty into the tubs.

Like they say "practice makes perfect". ;)

It only took 3 times to get it right. :)

The new version is so much easier to use and maintain. Once I get auto waterers hooked up I will be able to do all my cleaning, watering and feeding once a week. :carrot:

Good lookin' Bill! There is definitely a learning curve in rack building. My latest racks (rat rack v 3.0) are better than my previous ones, and took half the time to build. I have a mouse rack that is similar to those in that the hoppers are seperated for each individual tub. It is nice for filling the hoppers, but when the food gets low, the more ambitious mice will push all the food over to the adjacient tubs, so be sure to keep 'em topped off!

Yeah, they never get that low. LOL!!! I keep 2 weeks worth of food in the hoppers, but I add food each week to keep it at that level. So they never get a chance. ;)

Version 2 uses the least amount of space, but is a pain in the butt to fill food and water bottles. Plus the food hoppers on it only hold 2-4 days worth of food.

Version 1 was a mess since it was the first rack for the mice, had to redo the slides a couple of times to keep tubs from falling out. :(

Version 3, I have no complaints. Hold plenty of food etc. ;)
