Re: Lights..and ball pythons
Nope. No need to go out and waste money on an expensive bulb when it will do nothing for the snake.
Re: Lights..and ball pythons
Nope, they wouldn't benefit at all other than the heat that the light produces. Whereas many animals require UVA/UVB light in order to produce certain beneficial nutrients (people included), snakes get all of their nutrients from their diet.

I've read that...I just wasn't sure if they would get any added nutrients. I saw some uvb and uva light/fixture setups (18in) at the flea market and they were only asking $12 ea. I don't plan on buying them or anything. I just wasn't sure if they could get any more nutrients with them..

Nah... take vitamin C for example. Almost all animals can synthesize their own vitamin C except for a small group such as humans, apes, guinea pigs, and a few others. Therefore as humans we need to consume food that contains L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), but even though other animals can consume that same food they are not receiving any benefit from the vitamin C contained in it as their body already produces sufficient quanitites.

Why thank you sir! That pretty much sums it up some more. Thank you!
