    shipping in winter...?
Just my luck; at the time when I'll have the mney for my next snake, it'll be mid December. And I live in NY.
Is there any way to safely ship a BP at this time? Say, can I possibly go pick it up at the airport?

As long as the shipper knew what they were doing, I think it would be possible.

do they offer delta dash? it may cost a few more $$$ but you get the animal same day at the airport. that is how i got my rhino vipers in december, no problems with them as they were packed good with heat pacs.

As far as I know Jen if it's coming in via Delta Dash you have to pick it up at that airport. If it's FedEx I'm not sure how the breeders handle cold weather shipping. I know some won't ship during certain temperature ranges (your end and theirs). Some will with the addition of heat packs. Hopefully some of our bigger breeders will chime in with advise about what is safe for shipping during the winter months. I would only say that shipping during bad weather should only be done with an experienced breeder using a very good shipping company. That just makes good sense to me. We got Malachi in November in northern Michigan from Adam. Adam packs beautifully and is very experienced with shipping. Mal came in toasty warm with a lovely heat pack that I actually set aside and it continued to radiate heat for many hours after Mal was home with us.

    it depends on the weather

some breeders refuse to ship if temps are over ___ or under __, you could order your snake, and the breeder can ship it out on a week where there's warmer temps in your area

I ship every single week of the year and have never had a problem. If you no what you're doing on the shipping side, it's no big deal.
