not shedding...

My bp is trying/ready to shed, but it isn't coming off in one piece. It looks like she got the skin at the tip of her nose to come off, but the rest is still there...should I give her another day and see what happens? I've heard that a lukewarm soak helps...Anything will be a help this is my first tough shed experience.

Damp towels? It looks like the eye caps came off...

Get a shoebox sized plastic container with a lid, fill it with about 1/2" lukewarm water, place snake inside, put the lid on and place the whole container(snake and all) inside the snake's enclosure on the warm side. Leave it alone for an hour and then let the snake run through a rough, wet face cloth and see how much comes off.

You can do the one hour soakings once per day. Make sure to get the shed off of the tip of the tail, the eyes, and any shed that is completely encircling the body.

Well I let her soak last night like you suggested, but the skin is still there this morning. I tried to rub her gently with a small damp towel last night, but it didn't seem to help much. My main problem is that most of the skin is still there (including on top of her head). I know how much they dislike being touched around their head and neck...so I'm realy not sure what I should do.:confused:

You can keep doing the soakings once per day every day until the skin is mostly gone. Putting some wet paper towels in the plastic tub while she is soaking should help. You can also create a humid hide(plastic margarine tub or similar with a lid, put some moist paper towels inside, and cut a hole for a door, put the lid on and place on the warm side, like a snakey sauna).

Also, wetting a rough pillowcase and putting her in that, tying it, and putting the whole thing on the warm side of her enclosure may also help.

She's in a tub now, correct? What is the ambient humidity in there? And I think this is her first shed with you, if I'm correct, so I wouldn't worry about the conditions in the tub too much. I'm sure they're fine and this is just a result of how she was kept before you acquired her.

you can try buying a thing of moss and putting it in a tubperware soaked in water ..this will help with the humidty it helped my snake ..cut a door in the side of it ...also there is shed ease by zoomed its a spray that works on mine

Or you could NOT buy that stuff as it is a waste of money and crap.

Proper husbandry goes a long way, and since this is her first shed with you(I assume), it is just a result of bad conditions before you got her(not your fault, no worries).

And moist paper towels work just as well as moss, especially if you don't really have the funds for the bag of sphagnum moss(Lowe's carries it, brand name is Mosser Lee, bag is around $3-$4) or can't find it at your local stores.

I have all of my snakes in tubs, all of them(Balls, Boa, Corns, even 2 female Crested Geckos), and no one has bad sheds. Humidity is maintained at 50-55%, no misting required, and everyone sheds just fine.

You're a good snake momma, don't worry too much :) You'll get gray hairs soon enough, LoL.
