    making a URL shorter
    I thought I had a site bookmarked that takes a long URL and shortens it for easy display...but I cant find it so maybe I was just relying on my (bad) memory......

    anyone know such a site?

    No problem! I haven't used it in awhile - but it's indeed a great tool!

    Here's another one: http://www.makeashorterlink.com/

    You can also use the BBCode built into the forum if that's where your wanting to shorten urls.

    For example you have this http://www.superlongneverendingurlth...oonforever.com

    Code:

    url=http://www.superlongneverendingurlthatwillgoonforever.com]Linked Text[/url]
    Will display this in your actual message:

    Linked Text

    Note the example in the "code" box has the first bracket [ removed otherwise it would just have linked text in that box also so you need that first bracket [

    When I use them, it's usually in an Outlook e-mail message - I haven't figured out how to do what you've done above in e-mail Warren.

    I haven't used Outlook (Mac user), but I think it's possible to send HTML emails, some strange way. I know it's possible. LOL

    You'd use this to make a link: <a href="link goes here">Link</a>.

    what I was suggesting is just meant for forums. Jason is right though most email will support html tags within the body.

    Yup, I knew that, but there's some way to make a link similarly in Outlook - I just don't know how. I'll have to try what Jason suggested.
