    feeding
i took my snake to a good pet store (well i thought) last weekend and they said he looks healthy and said i should be feeding twice a week.? i usually feed on sat or sunday depending when i can get to the pet shop to get a mouse, but if i fee twice a week should i do it every 3 days or 4?...i'm asking cause they the pet store really concerned me when we where talking about my temps they kept saying that it gets cold at night in the desert...WTF...these are tropical snakes right? and from what i read the coldest the temps get in their natural enviroment is 65-70 during the winter months...i'm done asking them anything!!

I'd forget everything they said. A BP should be fed every 7-10 day depending on age etc, twice a week is grossly overfeeding.
As you've already noticed their temp advice is nonsense - keep the temp up all day and night - 85-cool, 90-92 warm.

i'm having a hard time keeeping the cool side at 78-80 unless i have the heat lamp on...that the 78-80 is the ambient temp ...that's the one i need right ambient for the cool side and belly temp on warm side. correct?

You need 82-84 ambient temps, anything under 80 is going to make your snake very susceptible to respiratory issues.

At the most, I will feed my snake every 5 days. It depends on how big the last mouse was and if they are out looking for food.

i think the wrong word came out...i just know they're not desert snakes ...right?

and how does every one keep the ambient temps up? i'm good on the warm side flucuates from 90-93 but the cool side will drop down around 70 sometimes. only at night though when lamp is off...and with the lamp on i cna't get it above 80, usually 79.8...lol

Get a red/blue lamp or a CHE (ceramic heat emiter) and leave it on 24/7. That cool side temp is WAY LOW!

You really don't want anything below 80 for your cool side temps, and 82-84 is ideal.

    Hope this helps..
