    sitting in the cold hide...
    i just got a ball python about a month ago and she has 2 small hide dishes.. latley i've noticed that she sits on the cold side just about all the time.... shoud i be concerned about this?

    Mine have been doing that alot these past few days...who knows...I keep my snake room pretty warm..so I'm guessing there fine.

    Be careful that cold side doesn't stay that cold for long. It is best to keep bps at 80 for lowest temp, anything cooler could result in health problems... It is wierd though, you would think the snake is smart enough to go to where it's hotter if it gets too cold. Here are some possible things to ask yourself; 1. Is the enclosure too big? 2. What are you measuring the temps with? 3. Is my snake an oddball? j/k j/k, but maybe hehe!

    Get that cold side temp up to around 82-84 and the warm side up to 92-94... after that, if he prefers the cool side, so be it. Most of my snakes stay on the cool side unless shedding or right after feeding.

    Other than the temps being a little chilly, nothing to worry about. :)
