    The Nikon D50 (DU warning!)
I finally got this little bugger to sit still! This is the Het. Axanthic I just received yesterday from Adam. I have to say THE BEST QUALITY Ball Python I have received as of yet! Here are his pics! These were all taken again with the Nikon D50, just to show that because it's a beginner slr, doesn't make it a cheap one lol. Tell me what you think!

    Just a standard zoom lens-

That last pic blew me out of my shoes! What a wonderful pic. I do not think I have seen an upclose pic as good as that. Now only if you could get a pic of the eyes or one of them!

Is there a macro setting with the standard lens? I can't get any closer than maybe 6-8 inches or so with my dad's D70 without it being blurry.

Not really. I step back a bit and zoom in on it. What lens size etc are you using? I'm using a Nikon 18-55mm, for the standard shots. I'm using a Sigma Macro lens for the macro shot.

When you shoot trying to get close up, flip the dial to the flower. That's the macro setting. It will focus in the center of the exposure.

I really don't know what lens it is.. I think he just got the one that comes with the D70. He wants to get this telephoto one (I think that's what it's called) that we tried out when buying the camera. We were downtown, and the store was across the street from an apartment building. I tried zooming the lens, and I could clearly see in the 2nd floor apartment (we were at ground level). It was crazy! I think it's really expensive, though... could've been a 500 dollar lens, could've been a 1000 dollar.

I'll try out that flower thing, though, and see what happens.

Lenses can get very expensive! This macro lens cost me around $900. Most Telephoto's and Super Telephoto lenses I've seen run anywhere from $700-$2,000 ea.. It is an expensive hobby lol.

Also, you have to think what kind of mega-pixel power slr's pack. You can take a pic and zoom in or crop it greatly without causing it to look very pixelized. Just a thought but you can snap a picture of your snakes and zoom and crop them.
