How many mice would you say would do ok in a 10X20 tub?

It depends. I wouldn't go more than a 1.3 personally because I hate having to clean cages too often. The less you have in a tub, the less urine and feces created therefore the less you have to clean the tubs. I know a breeder that keeps 1.3 rats in about that size tub and claims he only has to clean every other week. I am in a way doubting that
I would think you could go 1.5 in that size tub with 1-2 litters raised up to weaned size but I'm not sure about mice.

well its only a couple tubs, so cleaning more often wouldnt be that big a deal. For quite some time most if not all the babies will be being pulled out well before weaning so having room for the babies isnt really an issue now either.

I have run run 1.4 and 1.5 in the small kitty litter tubs. I think they are about 8"x15", but I may be off by a little. You could probably run 1.6 or 1.7 without much problem.

I'm running no more than 1.5 in in breeding group tubs which are sterilite 58qt tubs.

I run 1.5 in an extra large cat litter pans and it works great.
