    johnson or ranco?
I was looking at thermostats and want to know some pros and cons of the two thermostats. They both seem to be about the same as far as function goes. Is there anything that makes one stick out over the other?

    I have a Johnson...so that makes it special! :P

hehe...seriously, I compared the two and chose Johnson because it had one nice little feature that Ranco did not...but I can't remember what that was...digital display or something along those lines. Or maybe just the little light that comes on and off... :confuzd: Something you can live without, but nice to have.

    I know I'm not much help! :rolleye2:

I use and have used both Ranco and Helix thermometers.

I know that on the MG Reptiles site ,
    www.mgreptiles.com
Matt has a breakdown of all of the pros and cons of all of the ones that he sells.
    That should answer your questions.

My JC has been great, not at good as proportionals (helix, herpstat)...been running it about a year now non-stop without any issues. Easy to use as well.

Is it necessary to buy it with the receptacle end? Or is it just plug and play if I have my own power strip already?
