Heating solved!!! Humidity Help...

im so happy i finally got my temp to be where they should be 82ish cool 92ish warm. i want to thank home depot for this for i found myself an inexpensive thermostat. its not even a real thermostat its a touch pad dimmer for lamps you can get for 10 bucks. i thought i would try it would and it took some playing around with but its working for me. its like a low mid high setting for my UTH.

now that that problem is solved im using a glass tank and need some help getting my humidity up from 35-38 to the 50s. any suggestions???

Cover the screen lid with ConTac "paper" - you can get it in a transluscent at your local drugstore etc - folks use it to line shelves with etc but it works very well and easy for getting that screen covered.

ALL I DO IS PLACE THE WATER BOWL UNDER MY HEAT LIGHT AND IT HAS KEPT THE HUMIDITY UP TO AT LEAST 55% I DONT KNOW IF THAT WOULD WORK FOR YOU BUT ITS SEEMED TO DO WELL FOR ME SO FAR. GOOD LUCK IM NEW AT THIS TOO SO I KNOW HOW TRICKY IT CAN BE BUT HAVING HAPPY HEALTHY BABIES IS SOOOO WORTH THE EXTRA TIME:carrot:

youre using a glass aquarium so you most likely have a screen lid right?

this is what i do with that kind of setup.

take off the screen lid and wrap it up with saran or cling wrap(you know those plastic kitchen wraps). wrap it up just over half way so you have space for the heat from the heat lamp to get through. if you are using a uth then you can wrap the whole thing but make sure the tank has enough ventilation.

oh and its not over yet:colbert:

make sure you mist around every other day to help with humidity.

i also pour water in the substrate and mix it up when it gets dry. this works extemely well in maintaining proper humidity levels. but dont keep the substrate too wet, just a little damp. wet substrate can cause skin problems.

this works for me. im sure people here use different methods that work for them and hopefully they post them because i would like to know as well.

If you can't manage anything else, you could just make a couple of humid hides too.

i just put the saran wrap on my tank and man it works great. went form 36 up to 47 already. thanks for the help
