Wild baskers
Does anyone know if bps in the wild are dorsal baskers or ventral baskers. Like in the wild is it more important for them to find a hot rock to lay on, or just an open spot in the vegitation. where they can recieve the radiating heat from the sun?:sunny: anybody know??

Re: Wild baskers
They come out of their dens in the evening and would find spots warmed by the day's sun.

Re: Wild baskers
This is just a guess, but since they are nocturnal I would say neither. They are usually found in burrows or turmite mounds during the day. At night they may venture out to explore, hunt, look for nicer "crib"...

From field studies that I've read and people that I've spoken with that are over there or have gone over there, they've also been observed basking on branches, dirt mounds, and in open fields during the day.
At night, you can sometimes even find them basking on paved roads ... how cool would that be?
