Re: Measurer Thing
I got it downloaded correctly, but was unable to figure out how to make it work. Everytime I put in a pic of my snake, the image was too large for me to measure the whole animal and the program would not let me move the pic around so that I could see the full screen. Was also confused about how to do the first measurements so the program can measure accuratley.
What does it say when you try to download the program? I think you may also have to have an unzip program once it's downloaded. Don't know if that makes a difference to you. Good luck!

Re: Measurer Thing
you have to resize the picture in paint or something similar. I can explain that if i need to, but its not that hard. For the program, go to the top and pick measurments, from that menu pick set unit length. Then click on one end of the ruler and either the one inch mark or the end of the ruler, or really whatever incrememnt you want to use. After both clicks it should open a box that says set unit length. In that box input what ever the distance (from the ruler) between the two points was. After that go back to measurements and click begin measuring, then draw the line down the snake.

Re: Measurer Thing
Thank you for the info, I was able to resize the pic and properly measure my bp.

Re: Measurer Thing
Just a little "hint" for more accurate measurements using this program. If you mark the 0" and 1" on the ruler and you're off by just 1/8", on a four foot snake, your measurement will be off by 4". If you mark 0" and 12" and you're off by 1/8", and put in 12 as the increment, it will measure inches, and on a 4 foot snake, your measurement would be off by only 1/2". So, use the greatest number of inches that you can in the pic, and use that as your increment for the most accurate measurement!

Re: Measurer Thing
We've actually started taking and measuring several pictures for measurements, usually three, and then average the measurements.
Other tips:
- Make sure you take the picture from straight down over the snake and the ruler (or whatever you use to measure against). Pictures taken from a slight angle will increase the measurement error.
- Make sure that the ruler and snake are on the same level and that the snake is "flat" against the ground. If the snakes head is raised up, it will make the measurement inaccurate.
