RTB sizes...

so i was looking at getting a RTB...what size tank would be suffieciant for a baby male? How far would a 30 gal. breeder go?

oh, sorry if this is redundant, i was trying to find another thread about it, but i couldnt find one. I am so bad with the searching and all, if one of you could just point me in the right direction it would be really appreaciated.

I would say until he is a year old. It depends on how big the tank is. How long is it?

36" long, 18" wide, 12" high

I would say a year.But make sure he gets a 5 x 2 x 2 cage ready for him after that! ;)

I would truthfully consider tubs over tanks for a young rtb. Mainly becuase its harder to maintain temps and humidity in an open top cage. I would say that cage size depending on what Locality and feeding and temps would last anywhere from 10 months-2 years +!!! 1. A hog island male might not outgrow a tank that size until about 2 years old on a every 10 day feeding schedule while an Argentine Boa(known for beeing quick growers if fed a lot) may out grow it in about a year. There are some boas that would never outgrow it if fed conservatively(sp?). It really depends on what locality you plan on getting, sex, and how much you feed. I moved my female out of a tank that size at about 4' and 1 1/2 years old. She is just a Common boa. I have a male thats a bit over 2' and 6 months old tomarrow. He'll probably be about 18-24 months old before he would outgrow a tank that size. Again, if you aren't looking for display purposes, a tub would be a better choice or a custom built cage after that. I would start to plan a 4' by 2' cage after about a year and that will last most male BCI all their lives and females till they hit about 7' IMO. Just remember that males need less food than females and a fat snake is an unhealthy snake. A fat male also makes a horrible breeder from what I hear.

Thanks! That does help a lot. I prefer the cages over tubs, for display purposes. Because it is easier to maintain a snake cage in a warm environment, i always keep my room at about 85 so The cage maintains heat better. Humidity isnt that much of a problem...i also live in florida...it is 100% humidity. Lol.
