snake according to cage...
So i have a new 55 gallon tank for my BP...He is a baby, and a male at that, and i now discovered that i am going to freak him out. I am going to the Repticon show, and am looking at diffrent snakes. Do you think the cage would be big enough for a Burmese or Retic? i dont know too much about them, but i thought i would ask before i go doing a ton of research.
thanks a lot
Amy
Re: snake according to cage...
a burm or retic is probably not a good choice for a beginner. those snakes get extremely big...a 55 gallon tank will not be sufficient in a few years.
Re: snake according to cage...
and as I mentioned in our PM's...just thought i'd make it public...a red tail boa would probably do well in your 55 gal tank :)

If you are not able to get another snake or return the tank, a lot of people say ball up newspaper and spread it around the tank to help out some. As it gets bigger, take a piece or two out at a time.

I think i like the idea of a redtail boa...they are bigger, great snakes, and if i want to breed in the future (if i get another red tail), i dont have to worry about incubation and such.

i absolutely love my RTB - Sabrina. she's such a sweetheart. i take her with me in the car (she coils up on the visor) and she just wraps around my neck and we go into petstores to deliver my silkworms... i also take her to the computer shop (macstation) with me cause the guys loooooove seeing her there :)
Re: snake according to cage...
I think "cage according to species of snake" better describes the situation...

For how long? I dont think a 10ft snake would be ok in a 55gal. Our rtb who is 8ft long she lives in a 100gal tank and I think that is too small. Once our retic moves out of his 200gal, out big girl will be moving to the 200gal.:D

How about a Brazilian Rainbow Boa?
