feeding problem.

Hello again all. Well Seth has been doing great and hes all healed up from his belly burns, not even any scarring. Well he went through alot of sheds while healing and once he was better he decided to eat twice, 1 small rat a week for 2 weeks, that was going on 3 and a half weeks ago. Seth started shedding and I have been having trouble with humidty while he was healing because I had to use a lamp instead of his UTH so his shed was a messy one but hes out of it now, his temps and humity are back on track and all enviremental wise is sound. But he isnt eating. Normally he has a very agressive feeding responce but now he acts scared of the rats, I thought to even try going back to mice but he acts like hes scared of the mice as well and wont eat. His eyes look strange as well, kinda like the skin on his eye is krinkled. I checks and his eye caps came off during the shed so it isnt that but they do look strange. Has anyone ever heard of something simular? How long untill I should be concerned over the loss of appitite?
I was thinking it was time for a visit to the vet but I thought Id better start here to try and avoid the bill but if need be thats my next stop unless anyone has any advice?

Sounds like an insecure snake to me. Are his hides snug and tight?

kinda... He has a bucket with a hole cute out in it to hide under, hes p\retty big now (4 1/2') and he moves it around a bit.... should I put some weight on tip of it to keep it secure?
His cool side hide is very secure its his water bowl, the bottom part is a hide and the top part is a basin with water for him to soak in if he wants.

Check the temps. If the hot side is under 92 or if the cool side is under 82 bump them up those temps.

It sounds like the eye problem may be a result of low humidity. Try and get the environmnet stable and see if the eye doesn't fix itself. I wouldn't worry about 3 weeks of not eating. Just keep offering food weekly.

I also wouldn't worry about trying to secure the hide. Let him move it around, that shouldn't be a big deal.

Temps are good, After the belly burn I invested in a thermostat. I just checked to be sure though and all is well. Im going to try getting the humidty back up, that lamp just dried everything out badly, Thats why his last shed was so nasty and flacky. But now with his belly doing well ive gone back to the UHT with the thermostat. So the humidity should be back up to norm soon, mabey ill increase it slightly like hes shedding for his eye and see how that works out. Ill keep you all posted, thanks for the help.
