they all HATE their new tubs......

So, I moved half of my snakes into their new tubs on the rack, two nights ago. Every single one is now in a pissy mood.........even one of my sweet ones is always "ready to strike", and even announced his displeasure by hissing at me this morning when I picked him up!!! He's NEVER hissed at me before!!!! WTF??? does it take along time for them to adjust? I know it's quite a switch, as they used to be in tanks with bedding,branches,greenery,and the like....but I didn't know they'd turn into lil pissers! Is there anyone else out there who could share their tanks-to-tubs-in-a-rack experieces, as far as the behavior of their snakes goes? I am really concerned, as my biggest female went off feed for three months the last time she was moved. HELP!!!!

I agree. They need to settle in more. Think of it as you were just buying the snake and you were giving him his acclimation period.

I'd give them at least a full week of acclimation, just like you would if you'd brought them home for the first time. They need time to re-establish their territory and realize it is just as safe and secure as the last one. Probably two or three weeks to acclimate to the new home would be even better.

We bought 2 snakes and had them shipped to us about 3-4 weeks ago and they are STILL getting used to their new environment. The female has refused to eat and the male has eaten a few times. But they are still both rather edgy and "defensive" looking. So just give it some more time and they should come back around :D

They are much better off in the rack, the rack is a dark secure place to them and they will feed better and thrive there. The rack also holds the heat and humidity much better. good luck :)

I had two girls that went from tanks to tubs. They both have the same personality/reactions before and after the move. I get a better feeding resposnse out of my first girl, but she's definitely not a strong eater. I never noticed a big difference, but like the others have said... give it some time. :gj:

I remember seeing one of the members/breeders on here say that they actually took it as a good sign when there snakes behaved that way when he/she tried to take them out of their tubs....said they interpretted it as a sign that they were quite happy and content in their habitat and didn't want to be disturbed.

Can't remember who it was that said this...perhaps they will see this thread and jump in....but if there was any truth to it then perhaps you have given your snakes the perfect environment.

I seem to remember Adam mentioning something to this effect...I remember a few of mine getting a little sassy when I moved them into tubs...I took it as a good sign.:)
