How long before i should be concerned...
hey everyone. I bought a female pastel in the last week of august. She is about 620 grams. I have tried feeding her a variety of ways but with no success. I know it is pretty common for ball pythons but how long before i should get very concerned. I try to leave her alone and she has a hide, water bowl, and my temps are pretty good. thanks

    hi and welcome!

can you post specifics for us please. your warm and cool side temps. your humidity.

you need two hides... identifcal if possible, one on the warm side and one on the cool side.

is she in a rubbermaid or a tank?

hi, she is in a vision rack system cb70 tub. The cool side is about 82 degrees. The warm spot is about 90 degrees but is not half the cage. The majority of the cage is 82-85 degrees. The hide box i use is a small kitty liter tub with two holes cut in the sides. She tends to spend just about all her time on top of it. I don't have a humidity gauge...just mist during shed. any suggestions would help. thanks

i would start by making sure the hide is a tight fit for her. they like to have a tight spot to squeeze into. then add another identical one to the other side of the enclosure.

after you do that... i would crumple up some newpaper and put it into the tub... leaving her alone (except for water changes) for a week and then try feeding her again.

    keep us posted please!

I was told she was eating live small rats. I am not sure when her last shed was...never shed for me but i can try to find out. I will try giving her two different hide boxes and crumpling newpaper. Then try again in a week. I will keep everyone posted...

Well she finally ate! i put the crumbled newpaper in her tub along with 2 hide boxes. She ate a grey mouse on saturday. i left her in her hide box and came back in a half hour and the mouse was gone. i am relieved that she ate. Thanks for the advice everyone.:)

Please do not leave your snake alone with the mice/rats if feeding live. There are plenty of posts on here and pictures to prove that a mouse or rat can cause alot of damage to a snake if left unattended.

I dont leave mine alone at all! I've had rats and mice bite at my snakes in less then 1 minute, my one snake has the scar to prove it, he was biten and actually bled all while I was in the room with my eyes on him, imagine if I wasnt there!
