    Pet Store
    So, there’s a pet store in my area, a well known and respected one.

    They have a full grown Red-Tail. Heres the problem;

    He’s in a wood/glass tank well less the half his size,

    with a lamp on top of the wood/wire top.

    ‘Aspen’ bedding.

    No water dish,

    No Hide,

    Nothing at all, actually.

    Nothing for moisture,

    And skin from a shed that was obviously a whiiile ago.

    This store also tried to sell me a High wattage heat lamp for my BP, and told me not to let him have a water dish that he could fit it, and told me a heat rock was vital.

    What I’m looking for is opinions and info.

    That’s not even the best part. They have two of the only snakes of this certain species in Canada, extremely endangered. I cant find the article that mentions what kind.

    well there's nothing wrong with aspen bedding... that's what i use for all my snakes. boas don't really care if they have a hide... many don't use theirs - so that's not really a problem.

    no water dish and no temps being monitored is not good though :(

    i suggest you take a copy of the caresheet to the store and drop it off in a friendly manner... cause let's face it... people are more likely to change when confronted in a supportive, friendly manner :)

    Geez Louise; NO water dish?? I;d be giving them a piece of my mind, for sure (nicely, of course; you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.) That is just plain cruel; I mean, sometimes you see inadequate caging, etc.. but no access to water??
