Are there any downsides to BP inbreeding???
Okay, so I'm relatively new to the BP world.... I've seen a couple websites with pictures of male ball pythons mating with their daughters. Is this a common thing? I'm just wondering about the downward spiral of incest. Is this not a concern when breeding snakes? Somewhere down the road; am I going to end up with a cross-eyed loopy snake that has to wear a special helmet???

I have read the 2 generations is the limit, and then you should bring in new blood. Although this could be wrong.

Sweet. Thank you, Aud. I'm not going to breed them in the future or anything; just interested in the whole genetics thing.

Yeah that's what I have read on here, again it could be wrong..but I to was very concerned about it and pictured some 2 headed creature with a dogs snout lol. But really, I was worried about there health and how this could harm them.

Actually, you can go a little more than 2 generations inbreeding. Although it would be better to bring new blood in after 2 generations. ;)

what also matters is what kind of inbreeding you're doing. offspring to parent is better then sibling to sibling.

line breeding did bring us into some morphs!

nothing wrong with outcrossing and bringing in fresh blood.
you could always find someone you trust and trade babies, if you are looking to outcross.
