weight question

i weighed Imriel for the first time today. he is approximately 3 months old and he weighed in at a whopping 64 grams.. does that seem in the right ballpark.. it looks like some of the other babies ive seen on here have been quite chunky...
i want him to grow up big and strong!

personally I have seen 3 months olds at 80-100 grams. My 3 month old weighed in at 100 grams and at 4 months old weighed in at 124 grams.

how big was he at hatch time? i had a 32 gram runt that is 90 grams now. most of mine are 200 plus grams at 3-4 months of age. here is a june hatch,

What are you feeding him, and how often? Does he usually eat when you offer a food item?

I only got him a month ago.. so i have no idea how big he was at birth ...

i started out giving him mouse fuzzies cause its what i had, but once i was on here i realized that he could certainly eat something bigger... so the last feeding he had a small mouse and gobbled it up great.
Tonight will be the 4th time ive fed him ( every 7 days) and so far he has eaten every time.
He is definitly not a bad eater.. so im hoping that he will gain some weight, but i dont want to over feed him either..

We just got six BPs from 8 ball pythons that are all 3-4 months old and they all weigh between 86 and 100 grams

Where did you get him from?

i got him at a reptile show from a breeder in Rhode Island. He didnt seem to be any smaller than any of the others that i saw at the show ... could 2 weeks of eating the too small fuzzy mice have caused him to stay smaller than he should have?


hhmm i shall have to keep a good eye on his weight... luckily enough he eats with no problem, so there isnt THAT issue to deal with .. hopefully he will continue to gain weight.. i dont need him to be huge, just healthy!

He seems very healthy.. out and about in the evenings checking stuff out, not lethargic, curious to explore when i handle him... im just hoping he puts on some weight!

Yeah, the fuzzies probably weren't big enough to promote growth, especially if you were giving him one per week. If you've moved him up to small adult mice, I think you'll start seeing growth pretty quickly. If it was me, once he hit about 100 to 120 grams, I'd switch him over to appropriately sized rats (small fuzzy?).

Well if he's eating good than thats really all that matters, but I would recomend moving him up to rat pinkies.

ya i figured i would try the small mice and see how he did... then i will switch him to appropriate sized rats in a bit when he seems to need something a little bigger.
i just wasnt sure what was average for his age and couldnt think of a better place to ask! you guys are awesome!
