chipped/broken scale after shedding
I have a SuperDwarf Retic that recently had a very bad shed. While we were giving him a soaking to help him out we noticed he had a scale beside his nose missing. Its not really missing though, it almost looks like it chipped off. When we looked closer we discovered that yes, part of his scale seems to have chipped off. How did this happen? He's still has his appetite(like anything short of an RI could kill THAT...)and I have seen no other symptoms, then again, I have no idea what to look for as I've never heard of a disease that causes scales to chip off.... Maybe he got overzealous trying to get the stuck shed off his head?
anybody know what this might be?

Re: chipped/broken scale after shedding
I've seen dull scales, but they usually disappear with the following shed. I, myself, wouldn't worry too much over one or two chipped scales. Wait until next shed and see if the problem still exists. If you are ever truly concerned, phone your vet. They are an excellent source of info as well.
