    Crested Gecko ?'s
I want some geckos, and every one tells me Cresties are nice to keep/breed.

Are they nice? Do they like to be handled?

I want to start a small colony. What kinda sex ratio should i have to start a small breeding colony? What type of enclosure do they need? And what should I expect to pay for some?

    Thanks, Doug.:carrot:

Most of my former colony was very easy to hold but there was a couple that were very active and hard to hold, but eventually they started to calm down. For a colony a overall good sex ratio would be 1:3 through out the colony. If I were to start a small colony again I would buy only high quality juveniles. I kept mine anywhere from small kritter keepers to 10g tank to screen cages to a rack setup. You can pay anywhere from 25$ to 600$. For very nice geckos check out Kevin Dunne and Anthony Caponetto.

cresteds are great! not to mention the perfect first gecko. :)

they are nice and can be handled frequently for short periods of time. you can keep one male with several females just don't house males together as they will fight. you might consider starting with a group of 3 or 4 juvies and see what sexes they turn out to be and go from there. that will be much cheaper than getting adults. prices range greatly, anywhere from about $40-$200+ per geckos, depending on color/morph/sex/etc.

cresteds are arboreal and need enclosures that are taller than they are wide. check out the faq sticky for more info: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=30995

    Thanks guys for the advise.

I will most likely start with some Juviniles, and work my way up. Will most likely get normals, so I can get the feel of them before I invest in some morphs.

There is no morphs with cresteds, there is different patterns and color but no true morphs.

Well, what i mean was i didnt want to invest in high dollar color mutations before I learn how to keep some normals...
