people flaming for crapshot reasons.. -rant-
was on a different forum and had a personal issue going on. so while doing a bit of online research, i get on a forum ive lurked around kinda posted in for a few years asking for a bit of advice. Considering that i wanted more accurate and sensible information i asked that anyone younger than me not post because i did not feel like listening to some inane babble that most of the people younger than me on that forum conjure up.

WELLY WELL WELL THEN. i mentioned "sorry for being rude, but if you are younger than me (18) i really would prefer you not post" and said i wanted to keep out some of that kid babble.

i was then called a bigot, stereotyper, told i was egotistical, ahhh a good bit of other names i shant repeat. about three people replied that were very sweet and did help me out a bit- one happened to be 17:
she started "i know im a year younger, but i felt i should post" etc.

all i could respond were my remarks/thanks/etc to the people that helped me out and sass the 'kids' that were 'offended' via: shows how mature you are to flame someone who's going through something like this because youre 'offended' and not just respect my wishes.

really, is it so gawdawful to want older, and more mature people to help you out with some questions and keep 90% of the blithering 15/16 year old girls from "well dis iz wat i do" kind of thing?

Some people really do need to shut up and keep their loose change to themselves. just because its the internet doesnt mean your entitled to rampage all over threads in some sort of justice rage.

ugh. sorry, im just so cross about it and very flabberghasted that some people can look at the situation i was in and then treat my request for more mature advice as a personal attack on themselves. SO RUDE GOSH.

anyways.. anyone ever go balistic on you in a thread that trancends all reason? ive seen some crazy stuff around the internet, but nothing that personally came at me like that.

I used to post a lot on Kingsnake (before I discovered this place years ago) and there were a couple of guys who LOVED to jump into just about any thread I was in to harrass me because they knew I believed in Creation as opposed to evolution as it is usually taught/understood. I never did understand why my personal beliefs affected them so deeply...

But yeah, I hear ya. Our whole culture is skewing towards a self-centered, selfish mindset....and it's frightening.

i wonder why you felt you had to make that request in your post. personally i find that if i don't want to hear from jamie in a thread... mentioning i don't want him to reply is only going to further entice him to participate (and not in a helpful manner) no matter how much i don't wanna hear from him

it would seem to me, that it would have been simpler for you to just skip those responses and not hurt people's feelings by essentially telling them whatever they have to say, due to their age, is not welcomed.

if the guys made a thread and told the women to stay out of it... we would soooooo be all over that thread just to annoy them :P it's human nature.

good point. but at the time of posting i was really worked up and reading about a 15 year old girl who thinks she knows what the devil she's talking about would have put me off. ive seen people request that on that and a few random forums before (yes i am a forum surfer- esp if it has politics in it omigosh). i specifically remember when i was 16 that a 24 year old woman was asking about something but asked that people around my age not bother to post. i didnt. it didnt bother me, she had her reasons. i didn't attack anyone, and made emphasis that i didn't want to read -immature- posts. apparently suggesting a 16 year old could possibly be immature offends some

to the kingsnake/creationism: i think no matter where you stand on issues that have personal beliefs someone is always going to stick you for an 'idiot' and harass you afterwards. ive been harassed and called 'sexist' because i feel that i am a 'feminist' and simply want equality. equality, however, translates into me dumping my future kids in the EVIL nursery and FORCING any man i may date/marry to split a check sometimes. OH THE EVIL. regardless as to what i actually might say, whatever their view of feminism is what im obviously talking about.
ive also seen both creationists & evolutionists attacked by the other. there's nothing like being in a chat and someone typing winded passages from the bible. i also love it when people talk about how they dont believe in god the refer to their opinions as fact instead of their personal opinion.

about the mods: attacks on members vary, racist/sexist/threats get deleted stating your opinion about someone unless its just winded and fiercly obscene isnt so bad. off topic stuff gets targeted the most.

Also- Recycling Goddess; i cannot you! i swear, if he posts on this thread im giving you negative rep points~ OH NO NOT NEGATIVE REP POINTS AGGHH!

    edit: sentence typo.

I'm with recycling goddess on this one. Even though you used as polite of words as you could I don't think there is anyway you could NOT have affended people. This is the internet...people can be whoever they want to be and generally age means nothing (generally). And who knows maybe someone younger than yourself could have some good advice, with age does not necessarily come maturity or wisdom. I know I've seen my share of immature young adults and I've also seen some very mature and upstanding teenagers. I can see why people think you where a little stereotypical.
