Students at a Long Island school have more than the three R's to deal with these days -- they're also hunting for a reptile that's on the loose. The 2-foot serpent's naim is Slim, a ball python who excaped from its tank in the sixth-grade sicence room it had occupied for five years at the Hauppauge Middle School. (AP)

I think that they mean 5 months. My ball python is only 4 months old and is almost 2 feet long. Is it possible for a BP to remain only 2 feet after 5 years?

It could very well be five years. Some male bp's can be fairly small. It often depends on husbandry, and if that bp has been recieving minimal care in those five years (as is usually the case in a class-room pet) it could have stunted its growth. And lastly...people frequently underestimate the length of a snake.

:rolleyes: Non snake people I have met tend to make a 2ft snake out to be 10ft!! :O
